Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Oakland for Bonnie Alexander Showers, 72, of Oakland, who died on Friday, Aug. 26, in Oxford. Burial followed in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Bro. Courtney Selvy officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service on Sunday, Aug. 28, at the church.
Bonnie was born on Dec. 7, 1949, in Charleston, the daughter of the late J.W. and Mamie Alexander. She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Oakland.
In addition to her parents, one sister, Judy Ann Alexander, and her husband, Millard Filmore Sanders, preceded Bonnie in death.
Survivors include, one sister, Dorothy (William) Moore of Cary; her sons, Steve (April) Sanders and Randy (Ciji) Sanders, all of Oakland; four grandsons; two great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed in Bonnie’s honor to Spring Hill Baptist Church, 1294 Spring Hill Rd., Oakland, MS 38948.
