Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023, at Womble Funeral Home in Charleston for Barbara Sue Sumner, 76, who died on Friday, July 28, in Jackson. Burial followed in Sanders Family Cemetery. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the funeral home.
Barbara was born on Jan. 5, 1947, in Savannah, Tenn., the daughter of the late Willie Oc Sandusky and the late Juanita Boswell.
In addition to her parents, her husband of 57 years, Herbert Glenn “Skeeter” Sumner Sr.; one sister, Mary Frances Sandusky, and her brothers, Jerry Sandusky, Tommy Sandusky and Steve Sandusky, preceded Barbara in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Sherry Sanders (Bert) of Enid; sons, Herbert (Glenn) Sumner Jr. (Donna) of Cascilla and Mark Sumner of Grenada; one sister, Margaret Shackleford (Will); six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
