A Celebration of Life Service was held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at Friendship Baptist Church in Grenada for Norma Taylor Morgan, 74, of Grenada, who died on Sunday, Aug. 18, at her residence after battling cancer. Burial followed in Grenada Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Norma was born on Jan. 16, 1950, in Grenada, the youngest of seven children to the late Bluford L. and the late Vivian Spain Taylor. She was employed in human resources for many years at Heatcraft, a job well suited for her gift for working with people. She was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church — serving on several committees — and was a faithful member of the Circle of Faith Sunday School Class. Norma loved Scripture and spent 30 years teaching Bible drill classes at Hardy Baptist Church and Friendship Baptist Church.
Norma embodied the phrase, “to have a friend, be a friend.” Her friends were there for her whenever she needed them and she was there for them. She especially enjoyed game time with friends, playing cards, Bunco, Rummikub and more. She had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed often.
Norma did her best to not let her illness slow her down. She was bound and determined to live life to the fullest each day; traveling, working in her yard, visiting with friends, reading, taking meals to the sick, organizing events, attending family events and loving everyone who crossed her path. When she would sit down from all her activities, she would enjoy an episode of “Judge Judy” or a good game show.
The only thing that rivaled Norma’s love for friends and family was coffee. She kept a fresh pot brewing at home at all times and drank it from sunup to sundown.
Norma was married for 49 years to Charles Morgan, who preceded her in death. They shared a lifetime of love, adventure and cherished memories as a couple and as a family.
Norma had a strong faith in the Lord, which sustained her during the tough times. She lived her faith by loving those around her, praying for them and showing up for them when they needed it – with a casserole, a card, a hug or a visit.
In addition to her parents and husband, her brother, Roy Taylor (Carolyn), preceded Norma in death.
Survivors include, her two sons, Lee (Julie) of Madison and Lyle of Nashville, Tenn.; grandson, Grant Darling; sisters, Edith Nunnelee (Jim), Kay Bridges, Bessie Faye Pollan, Jane Bratton and Joyce England; her sister-in-law, Peggy Little (Earl); many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
