NATIONAL SUMMARY
Nicole will race through the mid-Atlantic tomorrow with
gusty winds and locally flooding rain. In addition, a
tornado threat will exist in much of the Carolinas and
southeastern Virginia. A blizzard will wind down in the
northern Plains, but some snow will linger in northern
Minnesota. Even colder air will arrive in the wake of the
storm, and lake-effect snow may begin by the afternoon in
the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan and northern
Wisconsin. Rain will drench eastern and south-central Texas,
reaching the Gulf Coast in the afternoon. Some embedded
thunder is possible, but severe weather is not expected in
Texas. The next storm arriving in the West will bring valley
rain and mountain snow to Oregon and northwestern
California, especially later in the day.
