NATIONAL SUMMARY
A developing storm system will combine with cold air near
the surface to bring ice storm conditions to much of the
south-central United States. From the northern half of Texas
to Tennessee and southern Kentucky, freezing rain and sleet
are likely throughout the day. Very icy surfaces and even
localized power outages are both possible. Farther south,
where temperatures will remain above freezing, a swath of
steady rain will extend from East Texas to the Tennessee
Valley. Dry and abnormally cold conditions will remain in
place across the northern Plains, with high temperatures,
struggling to reach zero near the Canadian border. In the
Southwest, some rain and mountain snow are likely in
Arizona.
