The Nation's Weather for Wednesday, January 4, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A large storm system will shift into the eastern United
States tomorrow. A broad area of steady rain will move
through the Appalachians during the morning, then shift into
the Northeast and New England during the afternoon and
evening hours. Farther south, from southeastern Virginia to
the Florida Panhandle, thunderstorms are expected. A few of
these storms could turn severe, with damaging wind gusts
being the main hazard. Small hail or a brief tornado also
cannot be ruled out. A new storm system will move onshore in
the West, bringing heavy rain to most of the California
coast. Flooding will be a concern, especially near the Bay
