Mississippi’s state health officer says the Delta, with its declining population and slumping patient numbers, can no longer justify 20 hospitals, and the federal government has adopted insurance payment policies designed to pare them down.

Unofficial Statewide Primary Election Summary Results provided by the Grenada County Circuit Clerk's Office report that 5,027 ballots were cast out of 27,414 registered voters for a turnout of 18.34 percent Tuesday.
Of the ballots cast, 2,093 were Democrat and 2,934 were Republican.
