Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Ms. Morgan Renae Bailey Pernell, 35, of Grenada, who died on Saturday, Aug. 26, at her residence. Burial followed in Holcomb Cemetery. The Rev. Kevin Tribble and the Rev. David Haggerty officiated. The family received friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Aug. 29, and again one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, Aug. 30, all at McKibben and Guinn.
Morgan was born on July 30, 1988, in Grenada. She was a 2006 graduate of Charleston High School and a 2010 graduate of the ADN Program at Holmes Community College. She was a member of Friendship East Baptist Church.
Morgan had worked as a registered nurse and used her loving, caring spirit to put her patients at ease. She was a loving mother and enjoyed attending her children’s activities and sporting events. A self-proclaimed music and movie enthusiast, she was the go-to if you needed to know the lyrics to a song or a line from a movie – she remembered them all. In her spare time, she enjoyed refinishing and repurposing furniture as well as tackling any kind of craft project.
Her grandparents, Max “Jap” and Arlis Morgan, James Lee and Peggy Bailey and the Rev. Durell and Geneva Edwards, and an uncle, Terry Bailey, preceded Morgan in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Parker Pernell; son, Aaron Pernell; mother, Ramona Hall (Marvin) of Charleston; father, Tim Bailey (Rhonda) of Holcomb; brother, Trey Hall of Charleston; aunts, Vickie Long, Lisa Vest, Kim Long, Deb Bailey, Bridgett Bailey, Lori Lance, Becky Long and Sue Hall; uncle, Joel Bailey; dear, special friends, Anna Mainelli, Holly Allbritton and Leslie Lewis and a host of cousins and extended family.
Jared Bailey, Joel Bailey, Cody Bonner, Clint Brower, Jimmy Fly, Trey Lance, Marlon “Bull” Little, Max Migura and John Terry honored Morgan by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest in the Holcomb Cemetery. Honorary pallbearer was Ryan Trusty.
