Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Mary Ruth Peeples Vaughan, 90, of Coffeeville, who died on Monday, April 21, at her residence. Burial followed in Hebron Cemetery in Webster County. The Rev. Phillip Cook officiated.
Mrs. Vaughan was born on June 17, 1934, in Webster County, the daughter of the late Magness L. Peeples and the late Georgia Anna Trull Peeples. She provided childcare in her home for a number of years and later retired from Hager Hinge in Greenville. Upon retirement, she and her husband, Granville, moved to Grenada County and joined Hebron Baptist Church where they were active as long as they were able. Mrs. Vaughan enjoyed cooking for her loved ones and gardening, especially growing roses.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Granville C. Vaughan Jr.; her daughter, Virginia Manning, and her siblings, preceded Mrs. Vaughan in death.
Survivors include, her son, Delvin Vaughan (Connie) of Cleveland, Tenn.; son-in-law, Ronnie Manning of College Station, Texas; grandchildren, Delvin Vaughan Jr. (Kristen) and Dustin Vaughan (Cassie); great grandchildren, Raylan Vaughan, Conner Vaughan and Sutton Vaughan; special friends, Karen and Gary Bennett, Danny Vance and Betty Litten; her devoted caregiver, Gladys Bennett, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Gary Bennett, Harvey Darby, Don Gaston, Richard King, Lawrence Litten and Danny Vance honored Mrs. Vaughan by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest in Hebron Cemetery. Donnie Card and Marion Card served as honorary pallbearers.
