Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Grenada Church of God for Mrs. Mary Lee Hood Mabry Dixon, 87, of Grenada, who died on Friday, May 31, at her residence. Burial will follow in Sparta Cemetery. Bro. Richard Flautt, the Rev. James McElroy and the Rev. Farrell Wilson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Monday, June 3, at the church.
Mary Lee was born on March 5, 1937, in Carroll County, a small, country girl to the late Cuba Opal Brown Hood and the late Frank James Hood. She was a homemaker, caregiver and a strong, Christian woman. She cared for everyone before herself. She and her husband owned and operated M&M Quality Cleaning for more than 30 years.
Mary Lee’s faith began at Hood’s Chapel and she was a devoted member of Grenada Church of God. She loved music of all types, sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. She loved to work in her flowers and enjoyed growing a huge vegetable garden each year to feed everyone. She loved sewing the seed and watching God provide and grow it.
In addition to her parents, husbands, Rayford Lynburgh Mabry and Roy Lee Dixon, and seven siblings, preceded Mary Lee in death.
Those left to cherish her memory include, her sons, Micheal Ray Mabry (Johnnie) of Holcomb, Richard Lynburgh Mabry (Denise) of Grenada and Timothy Marcus Mabry of Holcomb; four grandchildren, Melissa Havens (Vince), Casey Mabry, LeighAnn Beck (Adam) and Crystal Flautt (Andrew); seven great grandchildren, Carley Beck, Allyn Flautt, Richard Flautt, Alex Flautt, Adison Bell, Kassidy Murphy and Brayden Murphy, and one great-great grandchild, Grayson Blake Murphy.
Alex Flautt, Andrew Flautt, Casey Mabry, Mike Mabry, Ricky Mabry and Brayden Murphy will carry Mary Lee to her rest in the Sparta Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Grenada Church of God, 2384 Carrollton Ave., Grenada, MS 38901.
