Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. Marvin Pennington Freeman, 81, of Holcomb, who died on Sunday, Dec. 7, at his residence. Burial with military honors followed in Sparta Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry McNeer officiated.
Marvin was born on Feb. 18, 1944, in Lambert, the son of the late Arthur Baird Freeman and the late Mary Elizabeth Pennington Freeman. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He possessed a remarkable work ethic and devoted countless hours to learning every facet of his trade. With determination and vision, he founded Marvin P. Freeman & Son Road Boring Service, a company that continues to operate today.
Marvin was a faithful member of Hillside Baptist Church and loved his family with all of his heart.
In addition to his parents, his sister, Marie Pace, and one brother, Billy Freeman, preceded Marvin in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 54 years, Lounette Freeman; three sons, Greg Freeman (Melinda) of Holcomb, Marvin Allen Freeman (Sarah) of Madison and Jamie Freeman (Jennifer) of Holcomb; two brothers, Michael Freeman (Shirley) of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., and A.G. Freeman (Carolyn) of Richland; five grandchildren, Steven Freeman (April), Myles Freeman, Cooper Freeman, Adam Denley and Zoie Sheppard, and one great grandchild, William Freeman.
