Funeral services were held at noon on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, at Stonefield Church of God in Cascilla for Mr. Lyndon Ray “Sonny” Holder, 71, of Grenada, who died on Sunday, Nov. 27, in Grenada. Burial followed in Stonefield Cemetery. The family received friends from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday, Dec. 1, at the church.
Sonny was born May 7, 1951, in Vardaman, the son of Hubert Ray Holder and the late Dorothy Jean Walls Holder. He was a graduate of Vardaman High School and Mississippi State University where he received a degree in education. He worked as a professional painter and also as a part-time truck driver. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada.
Sonny was a devout Christian and loved to spend time in the word and worship. He will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband and a loyal son and brother.
In addition to his mother, one sister, Teresa Parker, and two brothers, Jimmy Holder and Gene Holder, preceded Sonny in death.
Survivors include, his wife, Lynn Holder of Grenada; father, Hubert Ray Holder of Houston; one sister, Cecelia Knox (Dr. Edward) of Columbus; one brother, Mike Holder (Judy) of Vardaman as well as nieces, nephews and cousins that loved him dearly.
