The Kirk Academy fast-pitch softball team had a busy week last week as the season winds down. It started last Tuesday with a district game at home against Clarksdale-Lee followed by a league game at North Delta last Wednesday. The week was to conclude with play in the Carroll Academy Tournament over the weekend.
Kirk fell behind 6-0 against the Lee Fillies and rallied to force extra innings. The visitors from Clarksdale scored a run in the eighth and held on for a 7-6 victory. Against North Delta, the Raiderettes jumped to a 3-0 lead after two innings. The Lady Green Wave scored four in the third and nine in the fifth to win by a 13-3 margin.
Clarksdale-Lee
Both the Fillies and the Raiderettes finished with 12 hits in the contest. Sophie Brister paced KA at the plate going 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Lilly Horan was 3-for-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI. Emma Kirk had a 2-for-4 with a run scored. Sydney Allbritton had a double and scored a run. Grace Defenbaugh and Cecile Brister both chipped in a hit. Camryn Allbritton scored a run in the contest.
Sydney Allbritton was the losing pitcher walking four and striking out three in going the distance.
North Delta
Kirk managed just three hits against North Delta. Sophie Brister had a single and scored a run. Camryn Allbritton and Defenbaugh each finished with a single. Sydney Allbritton and Abbie Mattox both scored a run.
Sydney Allbritton picked up the loss.
Kirk was scheduled to host North Delta School Monday. Results weren’t available as of presstime. Thursday, the Raiderettes host Rossville (Tenn.) for Senior Night.
Tournament Canceled
Last Saturday’s Carroll Tournament was canceled due to wet conditions.
