The Grenada High School junior varsity and freshmen Chargers returned to action last Monday night. The junior varsity lost a 24-13 decision at home to Lafayette, while the freshmen were on the short end of a 38-22 game played at Tupelo.
Individually, quarterback Holt Gober was 5-of-10 for 100 yards and a touchdown. Chance Jenkins finished with two receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown. Devon Harris finished with a pair of receptions. Latavion Pritchard led the ground game with 75 yards on nine carries.
On the defensive side, Tay Lewis led the way with six tackles, two for a loss, and a sack, Theron Hubbard chipped in with four tackles and two pass breakups. D.J. Westmoreland had two tackles and a sack.
Freshmen
Andrew Klinck led the offense going 5-of-12 for 84 yards and a touchdown. Brayden Trusty was 3-of-5 for 66 yards and a touchdown. Jaeden Curry finished with five receptions for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
Ryan Spencer led the Chargers’ defensive effort with six tackles. He also forced a fumble, recovered it and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown.
Ty Edwards chipped in four tackles and a pass breakup. Zayion Cotton had three tackles, two of which were for losses. Eli Palmer had two tackles and two pass breakups.
Grenada was scheduled to host South Panola in freshman and junior varsity action. Results were not available as of press time.
