Saturday is the monthly Distribution Day for the Grenada Food Pantry and organizers say volunteers are desperately needed for both bagging and handing out food to citizens in need.
Distribution Day is slated for Saturday, Aug. 28, and according to Kim McRee, one of the directors at the food pantry, volunteers are needed for this Saturday’s distribution.
“We’ve been seeing an increase in numbers on Distribution Day, so we need volunteers on Saturday,” McRee said. “Distribution Day has been doing a lot better since we reopened the pantry.”
According to McRee, Saturday’s Distribution Day will be held from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. She added that volunteer opportunities to help are on Saturday from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. She also said that handicap recipients will drive around to the back of the Grenada Police Department and City Auditorium to receive their food. She said non-handicap recipients are asked to park on the Main Street side and walk into the facility.
