The Grenada School District has released its plans in hopes of successfully starting the fall semester, which begins in two weeks.
The GSD’s 2021-22 Start Plan covers how it will begin the year first starting on Thursday, Aug. 5.
“We look forward to starting the school year in a traditional setting,” Superintendent Dr. David Daigneault said. “We’re prepared for a normal school year of in-person learning everyday. We’re looking at everything from school buses, security, masks and even how students walk down the hall. The bottom line is, this is our plan.”
Masks/Facial Covering
When it comes to mask and facial covering, the school district will follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Dr. Tina Herrington, the administrative program officer, oversees infection control in the district and will oversee COVID-19 matters.
According to the Start Plan, students entering school buses and into school buildings are being recommended to wear facial coverings.
The Start Plan also states that students will be encouraged to wear masks when changing classes. The plan also states that visitors at school buildings are recommended to wear masks and any visitor with a temperature over 100.4 will not be allowed to enter.
Registration Urged
School officials said registration is still on going for students in the district.
School officials are urging parents and guardians to get students registered for fall classes.
The school district registration can be completed online and it can be found on the District’s website. Parents can register their children online no matter if they are a returning student or new to the District.
“We need to get the registration completed because it helps the start of the year run much smoother,” Daigneault said. “We are also hopeful that parents will be encouraging to their children by having meaningful conversations about the great opportunities that exist through this school district.”
For face-to-face registration, parents can register students at the GHS B Building from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. this week. Next week, the face-to-face registration will continue through the first day of school.
