The table is set for the 2021 election in 10 weeks with only a local judge’s seat up for grabs being the only item on this year’s ballot.
As the qualifying deadline closed five candidate’s names were the only to add their name to the mix of the Western Justice Court Judge race left vacant by the death of Judge Jimmy Tallant.
The General Election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 4.
The five candidates that will appear on the ballot for the judge’s race include: Rusty Harlow, Bart Haltom, Jeremy Lucious, Tangala Hollis Palmer and Vincent Marascalco.
As for the District 2 School Board Trustee, Dr. David Braswell was the only candidate to quality for the position by the Sept. 3 deadline. That position will not appear on the ballot in November and sets the tone for his third term representing that district.
District 1 Election Commission also received only one candidate as county-appointed Susan Williams will be sworn in to fill the unexpired term of Wanda Ward.
Williams was appointed to the commission by the Grenada County Board of Supervisors following Ward’s resignation in May.
