A Celebration of Life Service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, in Red Hill Cemetery in Duck Hill for Reuben Lee James, 75 of Grenada, who passed on to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, Nov. 13, at his residence surrounded by family. The family gathered 30 minutes prior to the service at graveside on Tuesday, Nov. 16.
Reuben was born on June 1, 1946, in Carroll County, the son of Thomas (Tom) James and Ruth Beck James. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and served in the Mississippi Army National Guard. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking and spending time with his family. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
His parents, Thomas James and Ruth Beck James, and brothers, Roy James, Tom James, Charles James, Bill James and Doug James, preceded Reuben in death.
Survivors include, his wife, Wanda L. James; daughter, Jessica Boyle (Jason) of Grenada; son, Thomas R. James (Greta and her children, Caitlin and Roland) of Yellowstone National Park, Wyo.; grandchildren, Hallie Kerr and Tyler Boyle, who were the apple of his eye, and sisters, Gloria Holly (Tom), Marjorie Testa and Linda Wright, all of Grenada, and Mary Carpenter of Vicksburg.
Sam Testa, Matt Rimmer, Tommy Carpenter, Lee Holly, Frank James and Jonathan Dale will honor their uncle by serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Dale, Benji Dale, Billy Rimmer, Bobby Holly and Randy Burke.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Cancer Society or Red Hill Cemetery Fund.
