With the recent announcement of the industrial shakings in Grenada County, the Grenada County Board of Supervisors held a vote that would make those moves as safe as possible.
The board of supervisors voted unanimously to prohibit hunting around the Industrial Park property.
District 4 Supervisor Darrell Robinson made the motion to publish a notice and post signs at each entrance that no hunting is allowed in that area. District 5 Supervisor Chad Gray seconded the motion. District 1 Supervisor and Board President Michael Lott, District 2 Supervisor Chad Bridges and District 3 Supervisor Columbus Hankins voted in favor of the measure.
“With the announcement of Milwaukee Tools coming, we will likely be having several people and companies visiting the Industrial Park,” Robinson said. “We want to make sure that people are safe when they’re out there.”
According to the motion, no hunting or other recreational use will be permitted on Industrial Park property.
Mississippi’s statewide rabbit season opened on Oct. 16 and it will continue through Feb. 28, 2022.
In the past, the area around the Industrial Park was hunted primarily for rabbit because of the heavy ground shrubbery or thicket.
Mississippi’s two species can be found statewide. Swampers tend to inhabit land around creek and river bottoms. Hillbillies inhabit everywhere else.
