The discovery of a dead body in Grenada County Thursday morning has shaken the close-knit community.
According to Grenada County Sheriff Garrett Hartley, deputies were notified at approximately 10 a.m. on Dec. 5 of a possible deceased individual in the area of the marina at Grenada Lake. Upon arrival, Grenada County Sheriff’s Office deputies discovered a male victim deceased.
“This matter is still under investigation at this time,” Sheriff Hartley said.
The identity of the deceased individual has not officially been released. However, news of the death began circulating around town shortly after lunch on various social media platforms with friends offering condolences to a local teenager’s family.
Grenada School District Superintendent Dr. David Daigneault later confirmed that the victim was a senior at Grenada High School.
The cause of death has not been revealed.
