A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Grenada for Bernice Walter Wood, 100, of Grenada, who died on Friday, Nov. 26, in Yalobusha County. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the church. Burial will follow in Grenada Memorial Garden.
Bernice was born on Sept. 13, 1921, in Indiana, the daughter of George and Ann Walter. She moved to Grenada in 1945. She was a devoted mother to six children, giving unselfishly of herself while working at Pennaco Hosiery and taking care of her family. She was an active communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Her parents, two sisters and a brother preceded Bernice in death.
Survivors include, her daughters, Miriam Honeycutt (Buddy) of Grenada, Jean Bennett (Billy) of Senatobia, Nancy Peacock (Scott) of Clarksdale and Margaret Terracina (Steve) of Greenville, sons, David Wood of Grenada and Jim Wood (Pat) of Cleveland, 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
