Mississippi author Hugh Jackson will visit Grenada from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on March 16 at the Elizabeth Jones Library to talk about his new book “Brutus and Little Man Dog Mania.”
Elizabeth Jones Library Director Crystal Osborne looks forward to having Jackson come by to answer questions and speak about his new book.
“We are looking forward to having Mr. Jackson visit the library,” she said. “His storytelling makes you feel like you are right there in the story.”
Jackson has been around and observed dogs for more than 50 years and has witnessed some unusual things. In this book, he shares a poetic story and also uses colorful photos within the book.
Jackson uses a balance between easy-to-read words and adding pictures to hold the attention of his young audience as they are exposed to new adventures of reading. With this balance, it encourages young readers to become more proficient in the world of reading.
According to Jackson, an enjoyable reading experience will help children to acquire a much greater desire to read.
“We will have copies of the book on hand for those that wish to purchase a copy,” Osborne concluded. “Make sure you get your copy signed before you leave.”
Jackson is the fourth born of 10 children. He grew up on a farm in Southwest Mississippi. He is a retired salesman, who lives with his wife, Peggy, in North Mississippi. They reside close to their daughter, Julie, and her children and four grandchildren.
