The 100 Black Men of Grenada, Inc., is gearing up to host another virtual meeting this Tuesday night. This meeting is intended for young adults that are preparing for and wanting to succeed in the workforce.
Roger Givens, president of the 100 Black Men of Grenada, is very excited to have such wonderful partners joining this meeting.
“We have invited different churches and different youth groups in this area to join us on our call and then give us feedback on what all they learned from this,” he said. “We have targeted this meeting toward young adults to give them the tools and information to make them successful in the workforce.”
Angela Griffin, the owner of One-On-One Life and Career Coach Services, LLC., has been invited to speak at the evening event.
“Ms. Griffin and I worked together when Nissan was being brought to Mississippi and we helped bring jobs to that company,” Givens said. “She works with young adults each and every day and has the knowledge to help make each one of them successful. I am honored to have her on this call to speak to all the young people in attendance.”
Hilliard L. Lackey, Ph.D., Professor, Coordinator of Doctoral Student Development and Executive Ph.D. in Urban Higher Education at Jackson State University also joins the virtual meeting to share his knowledge on how to be successful in the workforce.
“Mr. Lackey, was one of my professors when I attended Jackson State University,” Givens added. “I really have a lot of respect for him. He was one of those that helped mold and shape me into the man that I am today.”
Howard Hollings, a retired superintendent of West Tallahatchie School District, will be the final speaker, and is well respected by his colleagues.
“Mr. Howard is a long time friend of mine and has always wanted the best for all young people. He serves as an ICS Headstart Board Chairman and has for almost 20 years, Givens said. “That says a lot about the care he has for the young community.”
Givens has history with each of the speakers that have been invited to join the virtual conversation.
“All of these speakers know what it takes to be successful, and want to teach the youth on how to be the same,” Givens concluded.
IKEA and Coca-Cola are sponsoring Tuesday night’s event.
“We are thankful for our sponsors, because without them, we wouldn’t be able to do things like this,” Givens concluded. “We are grateful for them.”
