A Celebration of Life Service was held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Georgetown United Pentecostal Church in Georgetown, La., for Mrs. Leigh Atwell McCaw, 90, of Gonzales, La., who died on Wednesday, May 14, in Grenada. Burial followed in Lincecum Cemetery near Georgetown. Pastor Derick Martin officiated.
Leigh was born on July 18, 1934, in Georgetown, La., the daughter of the late George Washington Atwell and the late Bessie King Atwell. She spent most of her working life as a secretary with Fruehauf Trailers and also owned and operated her own beauty shop. Leigh was of the Pentecostal faith and enjoyed playing golf in her spare time.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Pern McCaw; her son, Robert McCaw, and two sisters, Viola Woodall and Betty Morgan, preceded Leigh in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Teresa Rogers of Houston, Texas; one sister, Barbara Womack of Sikes, La.; her brothers, Willis Atwell of Jena, La., and George Atwell of Grenada and two grandchildren, Christopher and Sarah.
David Atwell, Jeff Atwell, Jerry Atwell, Michael Atwell, Christopher Godwin, Glenn Williams and Lloyd Womack honored Leigh by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest in Lincecum Cemetery.
