Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at New Bethel Holiness Church for the Rev. Larry Joe Hill, 73, of Cascilla, who died on Saturday, Oct. 4, in Grenada. Burial followed in North Shady Grove Cemetery in Cascilla. The Rev. James Jones officiated. The family received friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday evening, Oct. 6, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, Oct. 7, all at New Bethel Holiness Church.
Bro. Hill was born on Dec. 2, 1951, the son of the late Lonnie Houston Hill and the late Annie Margaret Kendall Hill. He worked for several years at Randall Textron in Grenada and later as a school bus driver for the East Tallahatchie and Grenada school districts.
Bro. Hill was a founding member of New Bethel Holiness Church and had served as pastor of several churches through the years. Bro. Hill was also an evangelist and enjoyed spreading the good news of his faith in Jesus Christ. An accomplished musician, he enjoyed singing with his family and friends and could play just about any instrument he picked up.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Sherry Hill, and one son, Larry Joe Hill Jr., preceded Bro. Hill in death.
Survivors include, his daughter, Kimberly Hill Frazier of Cascilla; one son, Shaun Darren Hill of Cascilla; sister, Bobbie Denmark (Donald); brothers, the Rev. Lonnie T. “Tommy” Hill (Linda) and the Rev. Jerry M. Hill (Sonia), all of Cascilla; five grandchildren, Will Sturgis, Fallon Sturgis, Andy Robinson, Zachary Hill and Christal Power and seven great grandchildren.
Eric Denmark, Matt Hill, Trent Hill, Troy Hill, Andy Robinson and Will Sturgis honored Bro. Hill by serving as pallbearers.
