The Kirk Academy junior varsity Raiders opened the 2022 season with a pair of home games against Indianola Academy. In the A game, Kirk was on the short end of a 14-0 decision. The B contest was a 6-6 tie.
“We struggled to block on our sweeps and tosses,” coach Stephen Crenshaw said. “Penalties and bad snaps also killed us.”
On the defensive side, Clayton Duke and Andy Redwine were the standouts. Linton Carson also recorded an interception in the contest and played well on the offensive side. Jett Lewis and and Clayton Duke also had good runs in the contest.
B-Game
Gage Vance had the lone touchdown for the Raiders. On the defensive side, Colt Harbin and Tate Summers were the defensive standouts.
Kirk returns a to action Thursday with a trip Holly Springs to face Marshall Academy. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
On Aug. 25, the teams played in a jamboree at Oak Hill.
Lewis had the lone scored in a 6-6 tie with the host school from West Point. The second scrimmage was a 6-0 loss at the hands of Indianola.
