The Kirk Academy cross country team took part in the annual Delta Dash at Pillow Academy last Monday. Three members finished in the Top 10 in their respective divisions.
Freshman Jack Cravens paced the junior varsity boys team, who finished third in the final team standings, with a first-place overall finish with a time of 10:53 in running a 3K race. Eighth-grader Witt Cravens had a 13:28, followed by classmates Russ Mims (13:30), Cross Clark (14:32) and Hayden Bundt (14:39).
Freshman Claire Thomas had a 16:13 to lead the junior varsity girls.
In high school girls action, senior Charley Rose finished with a time of 20:54 in 5k action to finish fifth. Junior Jana Mims was 17th with a time of 22:36, followed by senior Parker Avant with a time of 24:13. Sophomore Addyson Kilgore placed 33rd with a time of 27:10.
In boys action, sophomore Cullom Crowe was third overall with a time of 18:12. Junior Carter Mattox was 12th with a time of 19:14, followed by sophomore Will King at 33rd with a time of 21:35. Junior Tanner Wilbourn was 54th with a time of 24:25.
Kirk returned to action Monday for the Kirk Invitational at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Results were not available as of press time.
