Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 26, 2025, at McCarley Baptist Church in McCarley for Julia Ruth “Judy” Brisendine, 81, of McCarley, affectionately known as “Ru Ru,” who died on Saturday, May 24, in Winona. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona. The Rev. Lanny Haley officiated. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday, May 26, at the church.
Mrs. Brisendine was born on July 31, 1943, the daughter of the late Samuel Burdine and the late Estelle Scruggs Flippen. She was a member of McCarley Baptist Church in McCarley.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Charles Henry Brisendine; one daughter, Joanne Brisendine; her son, Charles Franklin Brisendine, and siblings, Raymond Flippen, Sarah Lafferty and Willie Paul Flippen, preceded Mrs. Brisendine in death.
Survivors include, one daughter, Melanie Welch (Kelly) of McCarley; two granddaughters, Stacia Fancher (Elliott) of Duck Hill and Sara Austin Welch of McCarley; two great grandchildren, Charles Reece and Ella Kathryn Fancher; brother, James Burdine Flippen of West Point and extended family, John and Carolyn Summerville.
