Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 26, 2025, in Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton for Mr. Hal Wayne Deaton Sr., 83, of Gore Springs, who died on Friday, May 23, at his residence. The Rev. James McElroy and Bro. Ken Salley officiated.
Hal was born on May 5, 1942, in Minter City, the son of the late Lonzo Rufus Deaton and the late Martha Kennedy Deaton. He worked as a farm manager for Carr Farms for many years and was a proud United States Air Force veteran. He was also an antique car enthusiast and loved collecting old signs, bottles and other advertising memorabilia. He was a member of Walton Chapel Church of God.
In addition to his parents, 10 siblings, preceded Hal in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 55 years, Alice Carpenter Deaton; two sons, Hal Wayne Deaton Jr. (Rachelle) of Gore Springs and Jason Deaton (Angel) of Ripley; six grandchildren, Halle Deaton, Tate Glenn (Jada), Luke Glenn, Holden Vanstory, Cadence Vanstory and Mason Vanstory and two great grandchildren, Charlee Tate Glenn and Elora James Glenn.
Buddy Deaton, Justin Deaton, Luke Glenn, Tate Glenn, Scott Smith and Holden VanStory honored Hal by serving as pallbearers and carried him to rest in Evergreen Cemetery.
