Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Vaiden Baptist Church for Joycelyn DeSalvo Yates, 78, of Carmack, who died on Thursday, April 13, in Jackson with her daughters by her side. Burial followed in Hebron Cemetery. Pastor David Westmoreland officiated. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until service time on Monday, April 17, at the church.
Joyce was born on July 20, 1944, in New Orleans, La., the daughter of the late Martin DeSalvo and the late Rita Barre.
In addition to her parents, one brother, one grandchild and one great grandchild, preceded Joyce in death.
Survivors include, her son, Charles E. Yates Jr. (Stephanie) of Tuppers Plains, Ohio; her daughters, Janell Yates Boyette (Shane) of Carmack and Tisha Yates Garcia (David) of Vaiden; three sisters; two brothers; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Ahava Ministries, P.O. Box 247, Winona, MS 38967.
