A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, in Grenada for Johnson “James” Lee Harvey, who began his earthly journey on April 26, 1952, in Grenada and completed his journey on Monday, July 28, 2025, in Chicago, Ill. Time and location to be determined.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, at Rhoma Word Church in Chicago, Ill.
James was born to the union of the late Henry Harvey and the late Ora Lee Scott Harvey.
Three brothers, George Harvey, Henry “Bo” Harvey Jr., and John H. Hamilton, and his beloved sons, Johnson “Butter” Harvey Jr., and Derrick “Maine” Dogan, preceded James in death.
Survivors include, his three beautiful daughters, Anitria (Paul) Lewis of Terry, Teresa Dogan of Southaven and Avery (Trey) Calloway of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Derricka Dogan of Las Vegas, Nev., Jahnya Dogan of Florida and Ary Calloway and Averi Calloway, both of Austin, Texas; great grandchildren, Aden Earl Manning, Ahmyla Renae Manning and Jaelynn Amoy of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Geneva Elliott, Fannie Harvey-Brezell, Mary Jenkins of Chicago, Ill., Cora Reece, Freddie Golliday, Linnie Easterwood of Grenada and Daisy Harvey of Jackson; two brothers, Jessie Harvey of Grenada and Martin Harvey of Winona and a host of nieces and nephews.
