A Celebration of Life Service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. John Michael “Mike” Ellis Jr., 58, of Grenada, who died on Tuesday, May 2, in Grenada. Bro. Mike Schmitz and Bro. Lee Holly officiated.
Mike was born on July 17, 1964, in Louisville, the son of the late John Michael Sr. and the late Elizabeth Zane Ellis. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and enjoyed attending sporting events with his friends and family. He worked as an environmentalist for the Mississippi Department of Health for 25 years. In his spare time, Mike enjoyed fishing. He was a member of Southside Church of Christ.
Survivors include, his wife, Sheila Craven-Ellis; son, John Craven Ellis of Ridgeland; sister, Patri Ellis of Louisville; mother-in-law, Dorothy Craven of Grenada; brother-in-law, Scott Craven (Bonnie) of Grenada; two nieces, Ana Izabel Ellis and Ainsley Craven, and a nephew, Samuel Craven.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Southside Church of Christ Teenage Fund.
