A time of remembrance was held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. John L. Malone, 78, of Grenada, who died on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, in Southaven. Family and friends were encouraged to attend and join in a time of reminiscing and reflecting on John’s remarkable life.
John was born on Feb. 25, 1946, in Eupora, the son of the late Charley and the late Arie Arizona Dingler Malone. He enjoyed a career spanning 40 years and 3 months at Heatcraft in Grenada. He was a member of Southside Church of Christ.
John also honorably served in the Mississippi Army National Guard for eight years. A true outdoorsman, he also enjoyed spending time at Grenada Lake. John will long be remembered as a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, three sisters, Ettie Simmons, Evelyn Newnham and Betty Reed, preceded John in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 55 years, Dorothy McGonagill Malone; daughter, Allyson Minahan (Bill) of Cordova, Tenn.; son, Cameron Malone of Knoxville, Tenn.; four sisters, Martha “Tootsie” Smith of St. Louis, Mo., Ethelene Lamb of Arkansas, Shirley Simmons (Thomas) of Grenada and Patricia Whitaker of Grenada; brothers, Charles Malone of Texas and Carl Malone of Green Bay, Wis., and two grandchildren, Travis Malone and Ashlyn Malone.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
