Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Winona for Joan Hardin McNeer Cox, 89, of Winona, who died on Wednesday, Dec. 25, in Winona. Burial followed in Winona Garden of Memory. The Rev. Ed McDaniel officiated. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday, Dec. 27, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cox was born on June 8, 1935, in Winona, the daughter of the late Lee Roy and the late Elwin Burke Hardin. She was a member of North Winona Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, her husbands, H.G. “Buddy” McNeer and Roscoe Cox; sister, Ellanor Calhoun, and two brothers, Vernon Hardin and Joe Hardin, preceded Mrs. Cox in death.
Survivors include, her two daughters, Susan Surrell (Bo) of Grenada and Peggy Chambley (Jimmy) of Winona; two sons, Gene McNeer (Donna) of Winona and Danny McNeer of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Operation Christmas Child ministry of any church of the donor’s choice.
