A Time of Remembrance will be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Joan Elizabeth Eldridge Nail, 83, of Duck Hill, who died on Thursday, Dec. 11, at her residence.
Joan was born on Oct. 3, 1942, in Arkansas, the daughter of the late Edd and the late Marie Lane Eldridge. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years. He was blessed to share his life with one of the most loving, compassionate and nurturing wives any man could ever ask for. She was the heart of their home and the soul of their family.
As a mother, Joan was warm and tender, always giving of herself and loving without condition. Her gentle spirit and caring nature touched everyone she met.
Joan found joy in life’s simple and beautiful things — gardening, painting, making dolls and creating with her hands. She was never afraid of hard work and was always willing to help her husband, whether that meant building, climbing onto a roof or digging a ditch right alongside him.
Joan’s strength, kindness and unwavering devotion will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Her love lives on in the lives she touched and in the memories that will be cherished forever.
In addition to her parents, four sisters, Patricia Miller, Kathryn Melton, Hellis Faye Eldridge and Ivy Mae Eldridge, and two brothers, John Eldridge and Billy Joe Eldridge, preceded Joan in death.
Survivors include, her husband, Danny Nail; daughters, Edna Lawrence (Mike) of Grenada, Dena Rainey (Ronnie) of Duck Hill and Sarah Nail of Grenada; son, Neil Bergeron of Duck Hill; two sisters, Denise Moore and Nettie Nashaat, both of Arkansas; one brother, Bunk Eldridge of Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Lacie Adams, Casey Adams, Joshua Rainey, Brittiney Rainey Pee, Jessica Nail Willis, Heather Nail Jenkins and Johnathan Johnson; 19 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
