A private burial was held on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, in Grenada Memorial Garden for Jerry Hal Yeoman, 79, of Grenada, who died peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 25, at his residence. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada.
Jerry was the oldest sibling by 15 minutes, one of identical twin boys born to the late Willam Perry Yeoman and the late Ethel Cutts Yeoman of Clarksdale. He excelled in academics in school and attained the rank of Eagle Scout as a teenager. In his sophomore year of high school, he joined the Navy Reserves. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted for active duty in the United States Navy and, along with his twin brother, Perry, and his younger brother, Tommy, served for two years at the height of the Vietnam War. All three Yeoman brothers were assigned as part of the crew of the famous USS Intrepid (CVS-11) during the Vietnam conflict.
After his military service, Jerry returned to his hometown of Greenwood to begin a lifelong career in finance. Later, he graduated from the Mississippi School of Banking in Oxford. He worked for several banking institutions before retiring as sitting president of (formerly) State Bank and Trust Company in Grenada. Jerry was also very involved in civic and community activities. He served as a member of the Board of the Grenada Public Library, was president of the Grenada Chamber of Commerce and president of the Grenada Rotary Club, receiving the Paul Harris Fellow Award for his contribution and service to the community.
Jerry found great joy in staying active and challenging himself physically and in his younger years was a long-distance runner, who participated in regional runs and completed the New Orleans marathon twice. He enjoyed watching all sports and he especially loved cheering for the Ole Miss Rebels. Jerry could often be found watching games in front of the television, surrounded by a menagerie of rescued cats and dogs, which already miss his care and companionship.
In addition to his parents, one brother, Tommy (Carolyn) of Holcomb, preceded Jerry in death.
Survivors include, his son, Jerry Hal Yeoman II (Louise Teem) and his much loved granddaughters, Ansley and Katherine Yeoman, all of Atlanta, Ga.; his daughter, Nicole Yeoman of Louisiana; his twin brother, Perry Yeoman (Julie) of Grenada and his brother, James Yeoman (Dale) of Carrollton; his sisters, Judy Vail (Eddie) of Greenwood and Gussie Melton of Charleston, and his beloved nephews and nieces.
Jerry is also survived by the love of his life, Jamie Purdie Rogers of Grenada, and her children, all of whom he loved and cherished as his own including: Jared Rogers (Kellie) of Brandon, Jonathan Rogers (Amee) of Roswell, Ga., and Roni Rogers of Memphis, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Mia Rogers, Maddox Rogers and Levi Rogers, who affectionately referred to him as “Happy Jerry.”
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, Grenada’s Christmas in April or your local animal shelter in honor of Jerry’s memory.
