In keeping with his wishes, memorial service plans are private for Mr. James Roy Grammer, 62, of Cascilla, who died on Sunday, May 25, 2025, in Charleston.
James was born on Oct. 29, 1962, in Grenada, the son of William Roy “Spud” Grammer and the late Janie Ruth “Polly” Kendall Grammer. He spent much of his career as a brazer at Modine in Grenada.
James was a man who cherished the simple things in life. Known for his kind and giving spirit, he was always ready to lend a helping hand — especially to his friends and neighbors in the Cascilla community. If given the choice, he’d rather be riding a back road in Tallahatchie County than anywhere else in the world.
In addition to his mother, his brothers, Dennis Ray Grammer and Carl Ray Houston, preceded James in death.
Survivors include, his daughter, Holly Bailey (Trey) of Grenada; his son, Cody Grammer (Jeannie) of Cascilla; his father, William R. “Spud” Grammer of Cascilla; three grandchildren, Eli Bailey, Barrett Grammer and Bryson “Peanut” Grammer and a nephew, Dustin Grammer.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Tallahatchie General Hospital and the Baptist Cancer Center for the compassion and care shown during James’ illness.
