Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, at Liberty Baptist Church for James Paul Henderson Jr., 78, of Carroll County, who died on Monday, Oct. 3, in Jackson. Burial will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Gary Tanner will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the church.
Paul was born on Sept. 13, 1944, in Shaw, the son of James Paul Henderson Sr. and Opal Lee Miles Henderson. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a co-founder of Veterans Helping Veterans in Carroll County. He also served as chairman of the Carroll County Republican Party. Paul was an avid Ole Miss fan, a retired car salesman and a meat cutter. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and loved his family and country.
Survivors include, his wife of 37 years, Sarah Vaughn Henderson of Carroll County; sons, Michael Ray Henderson of Henderson, Nev., James Paul “Jimbo” Henderson III of Provo, Utah, and James Dack Evans Jr. of Carroll County; daughters, Lila Ruth Cody of Hurst, Texas, Anna Rucker of San Antonio, Texas, Paula Evans of Carroll County and Megan Aynn Deaver of Siloam Springs, Ark.; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Military Rites will be conducted by Keesler-Hamrick-Gillespie American Legion Post 29.
