A memorial service will be held at a later date for Irby Ralph Barrentine Jr., 76, of Carrollton, who died on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, at his residence.
Irby was born on Feb. 28, 1948, in Greenwood, the son of the late Irby Ralph Barrentine Sr. and the late Minnie Elizabeth Bennett Barrentine. He worked on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico until his retirement. He was a member of the North American Fishing Club and loved to fish whenever he got the chance. Irby served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 until 1971, and earned the rank of corporal.
In addition to his parents, one brother, James Edward Barrentine, preceded Irby in death.
Survivors include, his two sisters, Louise Barrentine of Brandon and Catherine Stoker of Winona; one brother, Johnny Barrentine of Greenwood, and a host of nieces and nephews.
