Hundreds of Grenada County residents remain without electricity following Sunday evening’s severe thunderstorm that blew strong straight line winds and heavy rains through the area.
According to FindEnergy, 427 homes and businesses remain without power in Grenada County as of 8:16 p.m. Monday, May 27. This represents 3.74 percent of the 11,428 customers the data website tracks in the county. Grenada County currently has the fourth most power outages of any state and the fifth highest ratio of customers out of any county in Mississippi.
Of the two utilities FindEnergy tracks in Grenada County, Entergy Mississippi has the most customers out, with 426 without power. Tallahatchie Valley Electric Company is showing one of its estimated 713 customers without power, giving Entergy Mississippi the largest percentage of customers without power at 3.98 percent.
In the past 72 hours, Grenada County has had a peak outage count of 2,308 and a peak percentage of customers out of 20.20 percent, according to FindEnergy. The average number of customers out in the state over the last 72 hours is 922. The trend for outages in the state over the last 72 hours is net 424 customers lost power.
