Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, in Union Cemetery in Tillatoba for Homer Grant Melton, 90, who died on Tuesday, Aug. 8, in Ruleville.
Mr. Melton was born on Aug. 6, 1933, in Yalobusha County, the son of the late Gertie Lee Holland and the late William Jackson Melton. He was a member of Tillatoba Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, his wife of 65 years, Hellon Ruth Melton; sisters, Grace McClanahan, Nora Hendricks and Flora Dunning, and brothers, Deward Melton, M.L. Melton and J.W. Melton, preceded Mr. Melton in death.
Survivors include, his daughter, Freda Elaine Weir (Frank) of Grenada; sons, Richard Grant Melton (Diane) of Hardy and David Lee Melton (Kathy) of Augusta, Ga.; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Union Cemetery, Att: Lee Ann Howe, 8011 CR 154, Tillatoba, MS 38961.
