Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, at Sparta Methodist Church in Holcomb for William Marion Shaw, 90, of Kosciusko, formerly of Holcomb, who died on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the State Veterans Home in Kosciusko. Burial followed in Sparta Cemetery in Holcomb. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service on Friday, Aug. 18, at Sparta Methodist Church.
Bill was born on Feb. 20, 1933, in Charleston, the son of the late William Walter Shaw and the late Myrtle Lucille Shook Shaw. He enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After 23 years of service, he retired as a Sergeant First Class. He was a member of Sparta Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, one sister, Rose Mary Woodall, and two brothers, Ronnie Dean Shaw and John Talmadge Shaw, preceded Bill in death.
Survivors include, his daughters, Robin Thomas, Penny Boughton and Keslear Shaw; son, Bro. William Wade Shaw; four sisters, Carol Rideout, Brenda Hoop, Lana Kirkendall and Katie Ann Shaw; five brothers, Bobby Shaw, Glenn Shaw, James Shaw, Russell Shaw and Donnie Shaw; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Sparta Methodist Church or to the Sparta Cemetery Fund.
