Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Harvey Wayne Edwards, 82, who died peacefully in his home on Sunday, Feb. 1, surrounded by his family. Burial followed in Elliott Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Cecil Fayard and the Rev. Michael Payton officiated. The family received friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Feb. 3, and will one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at McKibben and Guinn.
Wayne was born on Aug. 4, 1943, in Charleston, the son of the late Charles and the late Myrtis Edwards. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who loved his family deeply. He was married to Dorothy Ross Edwards for 61 years, a true testament to faith and commitment.
Wayne worked faithfully at Heatcraft for 40 years. He was also a lifelong and active member of Elliott Baptist Church, serving as a deacon for 45 years. His faith guided his life and his service to the church was steady and unwavering.
In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed deer hunting and in his younger years, playing softball. One of his greatest joys was attending sporting events and activities involving his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He rarely missed an opportunity to support them.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Donny Edwards, preceded Wayne in death.
Survivors include, his wife, Dorothy Ross Edwards; two daughters, Jennifer Morgan (Craig) and Delana Edwards (Robby); five grandchildren: Haley Morgan DeNoon (Chase), Hunter Roberts, Kyle Morgan (Bailie), Webb Roberts (Madison) and Blake Morgan (Faith), and four great grandsons: Jack Harvey DeNoon, Hank DeNoon, Luke Morgan and Rowdy Morgan. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Edwards Howe (Butch), and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers that lovingly cared for Wayne during his final days: Alice Tillman, Pearline Liddell, Dee Beach and Kelsie Owens, as well as AccentCare Hospice for their compassionate care.
Pallbearers were Hunter Roberts, Webb Roberts, Kyle Morgan, Blake Morgan, Chase DeNoon and Sam Marter. Honorary pallbearers included, Charles Norris, Keith McGee, Jerone Funderburg, Mark Harville, Richard Hood and Steve Marter.
