In keeping with COVID-19 restrictions, a small graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, at Gore Springs United Methodist Church in Gore Springs for Gwen Hodges, 72, of Grenada, who died on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020. Her ashes were laid to rest beside her husband, John Hodges.
Dorothy Gwen was the oldest daughter of Dot and J.W. Parker. She graduated from MSCW in 1971, and worked several jobs, but spent most of her working years with Michelin Tire. Her husband, John, also worked for Michelin, which took them to several different areas to live including, Memphis, Tenn., Baltimore, Md., and Greenville, S.C. She retired to live in Grenada near family.
Gwen was an avid animal lover and rescued countless animals, particularly cats, in her lifetime. She also enjoyed her home and diligently worked in her yard.
Her parents and two sisters, Cathy Parker and Lynn Parker Stewart, preceded Gwen in death.
Survivors include, one sister, Debbie Rouse; stepsons, Gerald Faucher of Olive Branch, Kenneth Faucher of Texas, Kevin Hodges of Nashville, Tenn., and Steven Hodges of Florida; nephew, John Walter Stewart; nieces, Amy Dinkelacker (Walt), Ryan Williams (Coot), Christina Kunefke (Lee) and Robin Harrell; eight great nephews; a great niece that brought her tremendous joy and many cherished neighbors, especially Kenneth and Suzette Ashmore.
