On Sunday, Aug. 14, several of our Grenada Lions Club members were delighted to put on a program for some of the members of the All Saints House at the Family Life Center at the All Saints Episcopal Church. Our president, Lion Pamela Hubbard, along with Lion Gwen Nichols, put together several “goodie bags” for some of the residents as part of our service program. Bags were filled with some essential items, like Lysol spray, Kleenex, note pads, pens, lotions and many other items that we felt would be useful to them. There were snacks provided by some of the members of All Saints Episcopal Church, along with some of our Lions. We were fortunate to have the music provided by Jazz Magic, consisting of Lions Moe Hubbard on the piano and Bill Daly on the drums, along with long-time supporter, Dr. Mike Cox, on the bass. We are still working on trying to get Mike to join our den.
Lion Bob Cannizzaro started the program by opening with prayer. Lions Pamela Hubbard and I, along with our new friend, Michelle Graham, sang the songs.
Michelle has recently moved to Grenada and has family that lives in the Leflore area. She is a teacher of piano and voice.

Lion Moe had asked for requests prior to the program from some of the residents, so our songs were a good mix of their requests, including “What A Wonderful World,” “Because He Lives,” “Blessed Assurance,” and “Amazing Grace.” We also sang a couple of Moe Hubbard’s original songs, including “Southern Cookin’” and “Walkin’ With Jesus.” The residents seemed to have a great time and we enjoyed performing for them. We are now meeting on Wednesdays instead of Mondays. We can always use more people dedicated to serving others. Our Lions meet twice a month on Wednesdays at noon for lunch at Orleans Bistro.
