An altercation early Tuesday morning in Gore Springs ended in gunfire.
According to reports from the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a call of shots fired at approximately 6:30 a.m. after two men began a verbal exchange, which turned into a physical altercation resulting in one of them being shot. The incident occurred in the parking lot of B’s Grocery located at the intersection of MS Hwy. 8 east and Graysport Crossing Road.
The gunshot victim was identified as 29-year-old Dylan Coarsey, who was transported by AirCare from the landing pad in Gore Springs with gunshot wounds. The 57-year-old male suspect, Phillip Wayne Fly, was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center-Grenada by MedStat Emergency Medical Services due to complaints of chest pain.
“Once Fly was assessed and released from emergency care, he was arrested and transported to the Grenada County Jail,” Sheriff Garrett Hartley said.
Fly was charged with Aggravated Assault and is currently being held behind bars on a $50,000 bond.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” Sheriff Hartley concluded.
Further details will be released at a later date, according to GCSO officials.
