After finishing the first half of the soccer season at 8-6-1 and 2-3 inside Class 6A, Region 1, the Grenada Lady Chargers took to the road last week for a pair of region matches.
Last Tuesday, GHS traveled to Olive Branch and won a 4-3 decision.
Eighth-grader Catelyn Neathery scored two goals and junior Taylor Swinford added a goal. The fourth goal was an on goal by Olive Branch.
Senior Julez Moore, junior Ava Moorman and sophomore Teryn Kent each scored a goal in a 3-2 win over South Panola last Thursday.
With the wins, Grenada improves to 10-6-1 overall and 4-3 inside the region.
Boys
The Chargers opened the week with a 9-0 loss at Olive Branch. Against South Panola, Grenada lost a 2-1 overtime decision against the Tigers. Senior Brayden Neathery had the lone goal for GHS.
With the lossses, the Chargers are 3-13-1 overall and 1-6 inside the region.
Junior Varsity
Grenada made it a clean sweep as junior varsity teams swept their matches as the girls won a 4-0 decision followed by a 6-0 decision by the boys.
In the boys games, Cam Ruth, D.J. Johnson and Logan Conner each had a goal. The fourth goal was an on goal scored by South Panola.
The Lady Chargers won a 6-0 decision using goals from Cerenity Boone, Emma Roberts, Aubrey Surrell, Kent and Moorman. The final goal was on goal by South Panola.
Grenada hosted Saltillo in games Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.
