Grenada High School was recently one of the top 46 high schools in Mississippi awarded the 2022 College Success Award by the Mississippi Department of Education on September 23.
In its fifth year of existence, the annual recognition honors public high schools that excel in preparing students to enroll and succeed in college.
“I am extremely proud of Grenada High School on receiving this huge honor,” Superintendent Dr. David Daigneault said.
Mississippi’s recipients are among 1,742 winners from 25 states that have demonstrated successful track records of graduation students who enroll in two or four year colleges, are ready for college-level coursework and persist on to their second year.
“Our teachers and administration want the absolute best for our children, not only here at Grenada School District, but for their future preparations as well,” Daigneault said. “It is good to know that when our children graduate Grenada High School, they are prepared for the next level of education.”
A few neighboring communities also received the College Success Award with Grenada High School. Some of those awarded included, Brandon High School, Clinton High School, DeSoto Central High School, Lafayette High School, Madison Central High School, Oxford High School, Pearl High School, Ridgeland High School, Tupelo High School and Winona Secondary School.
Despite the many challenges brought forth by the COVID-19 pandemic, Grenada High School has continued to uphold many practices to their best ability to support their students’ college preparation and success.
“We care not only about our students education, but their safety as well,” Daigneault concluded. “We had to make a lot of tough decisions there for a while, but our teachers and administration did a wonderful job to make sure each student still had what they needed in order to continue their education while being at home.”
