Aspiring firefighters will have their chance to display what they can offer the City of Grenada later this month when the fire department holds open tryouts.
Currently, the Grenada Fire Department has several vacancies that it needs to fill. Assistant Chief Wade Bloodworth announced late last week plans for public evaluations in hopes of filling those positions.
GFD firefighter tryouts will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, at the Grenada Municipal Airport located at 950 L.D. Boone Dr. The tryout will consist of a 1/5-mile run, equipment carry, hose pull and dummy drag. Applicants must be 18 years old and should wear athletic apparel and running shoes.
If you have any question, contact the GFD business office from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at (662) 227-3447.
