A time of remembrance was held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. George Allen Day, 77, of Coffeeville, who died on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at his residence. Friends and family attended and shared stories and happy times about George’s treasured life.
George was born on June 22, 1947, in Lucedale. He owned and operated Day’s Mobile Home Service for more than 30 years and took great pride in instilling his strong work ethic in his boys. While George had friends far and near, he was happiest at home spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a Mason.
His mother, Iris Elaine Etheredge Easley; father, George Carl Day, and his daughter, Tawana Taylor Dees, preceded George in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 48 years, Delia Day; three sons, Michael Day (Brandy) of Carthage, Andy Day of Coffeeville and Ryan Day (Autumn) of Grenada; four sisters, Joan Fore and Mildred Brown, both of Lucedale, Dorothy Kittrell of Silas, Ala., and Violet Threadgill of Troy, Ala.; brother, Jimmy Day of Lucedale; six grandchildren, Tyler Birdwell, Russell Day, Colena Day, Gabe Day, Levi Day and Bella Day; mother-in-law, Lennie Bell; brothers-in-law, Butch Bell (Patsy) and Billy Bell; a host of nieces and nephews as well as a large group of young men who he was a father-figure to.
